Social
media marketing is being used increasingly by companies and producers
worldwide. The reason for the success of this method of marketing is because it
allows companies to access enormous audiences who can now learn about products at
any and all times. They can be exposed to advertisements through their friends’
personal sharing and promotion of them or by accessing and following links to
advertisements they would not otherwise
have access to because of the way advertisements are uniquely presented to them based on measurements
of users’ preferences and trends in their activities online.
One of my sources for research on this topic was an interview with an entrepreneur who has recently created a website for the
use of freelance producers who are looking for work. He described to me that
his website functions uniquely to search for leads on social media networks,
identifying both individuals and companies posting inquiries for certain desired
services. Considering his unique website and its functionality, we can see how
social media can serve a unique purpose for producers to advertise for
themselves by taking advantage of the access they have to information put out
by individual consumers online.
